COVID-19 Update

Dear competitors, parents, teachers, accompanists and volunteers,

It is with deep regret that The New Brunswick Competitive Festival of Music, originally planned for April 20 to 29, 2020, has been cancelled by a unanimous decision of the Board.  While we had initially hoped that providing the Festival in a virtual manner might be a viable option, the ever-changing situation with regards to COVID-19 has left us with no choice but to cancel.

Social responsibility is a tenet of the New Brunswick Competitive Festival of Music.  Protecting the well-being of all involved (competitors, teachers, accompanists, adjudicators and volunteers) is paramount.  It is our duty to act in the best interests of everyone involved in the Festival due to the health issue that has become a global pandemic, while also doing our part to promote social distancing.

We are aware that the youth participating, their teachers, their families and friends who attend the Festival will be disappointed with this decision.  The Festival is a musical highlight for the youth involved.  Each year it is a highly anticipated event.  Even at this difficult time, we remain optimistic that the festival will continue to positively impact the lives of local musicians in the future.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that this decision may cause.  We will be refunding all entry fees within the next 30 days.  If you paid by PayPal, your entries will be refunded through PayPal.  If you paid by e-transfer or cheque, your refund will be mailed to you.

Thank you for your anticipated support and understanding.  Should you have any questions, please email them to

We look forward to seeing (and hearing!) you at the 2021 New Brunswick Competitive Festival of Music.

For the Board of the New Brunswick Competitive Festival of Music,
Henriette Hull, President
